2015年3月29日 · The Viking is one of the six remaining illegal, unregulated, unreported (IUU) fishing vessels – which Sea Shepherd calls the “Bandit 6” - that are known to target vulnerable toothfish in the waters surrounding Antarctica, and is the second vessel of the six that has been detained by authorities this month.

Sighted 21 March 2014 in the Malacca Straits, with the name VIKING and homeport Lagos (Nigeria) painted on the hull. The vessel was detained by Malaysia in March 2015 and was charged and fined for offences under the Malaysian Fisheries Act.

The ship’s 11 crew members — five from Argentina, Peru and Myanmar, plus six Indonesians — are awaiting charges of violating the Law on Shipping and the Law on Fisheries.
