1992年6月27日 · Marine Fighting Squadron 322 (VMF-322) was established on July 1, 1943 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point flying the F4U Corsair. In the fall of that year they moved to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina to continue their training. They moved again in January, 1944 to Marine Corps Air Station Ewa, Hawaii.

Marine Attack Squadron 322 (VMA-322) was activated at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, on 1 July 1943 as Marine Fighting Squadron 322, equipped with F4U Corsairs fighter-bombers. The squadron conducted training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and Ewa, Hawaii, before heading to the war in the Pacific.

On 27 June 1992, Marine Reserve Attack Squadron VMA-322, flying the Douglas A-4M Skyhawk, was deactivated at NAS South Weymouth, in Massachusetts. This was but the first indication that the future of the this base was in question.

2016年10月9日 · 1LT Augusto Xavier, flying an A-4C SKYHAWK from VMA-311, was killed while flying close air support for the A Shau Special Forces Camp. His body has never been recovered.
