2015年5月21日 · It wouldn't bother most Bogleheads, but my own personal con would be that VSCGX will be on autopilot rebalancing. DW and I have an IP that we only rebalance on the high equity side. At our RMD ages, if a repeat of something like the 1930's happens we don't wish to be automatically selling bonds to rebalance.

2014年6月20日 · The fund is made up of 40% stocks and 60% bonds, and both are part US and part International. There's been some ups and downs in both the stock and bond markets. It all nets out to a relatively small drop recently for VSCGX.

A way to do the math on this, if you really want to calculate exact numbers, is to begin with dollars--any convenient round number is OK. Use the percentages to calculate dollar values for each asset in each holding. Then add them up for each asset.

Since my ef is rather large ($40k-50k), and it's not something I would really need in less than 30 days, I was considering investing it in VSCGX Vanguard LifeStrategy Conservative Growth Fund. This is a predominantly bond fund, but one with steady, >5% returns.

It's a very good choice because: 1) the fund is very low-cost 2) it uses passive index funds to get exposure to the main assets of US stocks, International stocks, US bonds, International bonds. 3) it automatically rebalances daily

2015年12月1日 · I don't see that VWIAX doing is worse than VSCGX in 2015. According to Morningstar year to date $10,000 became $10094 in VSCGX and $10215 in VWIAX. The asset allocation of the two funds would not suggest this since VWIAX is slightly more conservative, VWIAX being about 35/65 and VSCGX being about 40/60.
