The Belgian State Security (VSSE) is a service that I have come to know well over the course of my career. I was appointed Director of the Coordination Unit for Threat Analysis (CUTA) in 2016, during the most turbulent period our intelligence services had experienced in dec-ades. The VSSE proved time and again to be a dependable partner.

The VSSE notices that in 2024 foreign powers continue to undertake hybrid acts to destabilise Western democracies. Russia especially seems to have turned up its actions across Europe. The Russian hybrid tactics expand from Eastern to Western Europe and contain a broad set of methods (cyber-attacks, sabotage, disinformation, etc.).

Safe, Intentional One Engine Inoperative Speed (Vsse). Vsse, often referred to as safe single engine speed, is the mini-mum speed at which intentional engine failures are to be performed. This speed is selected by the manufacturer to reduce the accident potential from loss of control due to simulated engine failures at inordinately slow airspeeds.
