Vycor is the brand name of Corning's high-silica, high-temperature glass. It provides very high thermal shock resistance. Vycor is approximately 96% silica and 4% boron trioxide , but unlike pure fused silica , it can be readily manufactured in a variety of shapes.

It also features excellent thermal shock resistance and superior optical qualities.

Excellent temperature resistance allows the use of this glass at high continuous operating temperatures of up to 900 °C. The 96% portion of SiO2 in the glass composition results in a low thermal expansion coefficient and high thermal shock resistance.
