2016年4月20日 · Yeah, the price point is really what drives these. I got some 14TB enterprise 7200 rpm 5yr warranty drives earlier this year for $303/ea in the CDW outlet and over $100 off I didn't expect almost anything to beat that in 2019--this definitely was a surprise--especially considering that the cheapest price on the enterprise versions is still 2x this deal.

The WD_Black D10 12TB has the DC HC520 inside, that's the best I've found for containing higher end drives. They're a PITA to shuck compared to the other WD externals though, broke a pry tool trying to get the internal clips out so I finally gave up and just used pliers to yank them.

2016年4月20日 · And the 14TB reds are stupid expensive for what they are as the true enterprise grade 14TB drives I got earlier this year were actually cheaper. I've noticed that the WD external deals seem to be in line with drives being as cheap as they can even though they share the same parts with more expensive brothers.

2018年5月30日 · Both of mine already arrived, both show up as WD140EDGZ-11B1PA0 RPM reads as 7200 and both have power on count: "4" and zero power on hours. My last 14TB shucced drive was a WD140EDFZ, so a slight difference in model. Firmware on the new one is also 85.00A85 and the old one was 81.00A81...

I'd assume these are the same 5400 RPM red drives they have always been. WD Red Plus 14TB internal drive $18.57/TB. 7200 RPM variant. WD Red Pro 20TB internal drive $19.00/TB. 7200 RPM So go for bang for the buck?
