The FIA World Endurance Championship, abbreviated as WEC, is a world championship for automobile endurance racing organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).

Each new car, or each evolution of an existing car, must be homologated/approved by the FIA and the ACO. The new-for-2021 Hypercar class is the top-tier category in the FIA World Endurance Championship which is open to both specialised prototypes and cars based around road-going vehicles.

The Porsche Penske Motorsport team fields two Porsche 963s in the WEC, with two full-time drivers each. Customer racing team Proton Competition also runs one entry.
