WPA was designed to be used with TKIP (and WPA2 designed to use stronger AES-based). However, some devices allow WPA (not WPA2) with AES (and WPA2 with TKIP). AES is optional in WPA; in WPA2 both AES is mandatory, BUT TKIP is optional. Note that TKIP is not directly comparable to AES; TKIP is an integrity check, AES is an encryption algorithm.

Then no more than 5 minutes later I show them that the controllers allow you select WPA with TKIP, WPA with AES, WPA2 with TKIP and WPA2 with AES. The WPA2 with AES implies AES-CCMP, the WPA with AES implies the general form, WPA with TKIP makes sense, but I must admit that I'm not 100% on the WPA2 with TKIP.

WPA with TKIP and WPA2 with AES using either a Preshared Key or 802.1x for authentication is a perfectly allowable WLAN option that is used by many Cisco customers successfuly. It is actually the standard config when "WPA+WPA2" is selected in WLAN configurations. Reference the WLC config guide:

2013年7月27日 · It works fine with no security, but neither WPA2 or Auto, AES or TKIP, Mixed b/g/n or Mixed g/n or just n works. I've replaced the automatically created Pre-Shared Key with my own 21 character pass-phrase, too and that didn't fix it. I've set up our own ID and 13-character password and set up follows Fuzzy's recommendations .

2010年10月23日 · If that doesn't work change Cipher type from AES to TKIP, but I want to try it first with AES. Then just manually enter those settings into the router or with the CD, but don't use WPS. The act of using WPS changes some of those settings, thats why we turned it off. It also uses WPA2 by default. Let me know how it goes.
