Eighty-one years later, WPI is the first in the nation to offer a graduate degree program in fire protection engineering (FPE). In 1991, WPI offers the first PhD program in FPE. The program goes global in 1993 with the first distance learning FPE degree.

Fire models are used to aid in use of the scientific method to determine cause and origin of a fire. This course is intended for both majors and non-majors as an introduction into Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) and how engineering knowledge can be used to save lives and property around the world.
