The two TWR Porsches duly set the fifth- and sixth-fastest times with the quickest of the Ferrari 333 SPs clocking times just over two seconds ahead. Porsche signed an all-star crew to man the two cars, which included the likes of Mario Andretti, Thierry Boutsen, and Hans-Joachim Stuck.

In March 1995, Porsche withdrew their entry for 1995 Le Mans for the WSC car, as the cars and parts were still sitting at TWR in Indiana. There were further negotiations between Porsche and TWR. Norbert Singer visited TWR around March.

TWR was in the hunt for a new backer to continue operations in the company's American facility in Valparaiso, Indiana, while the strapped-for-cash Porsche could use a new sports racer as the basic 956/962 design dated back to 1981. As an added incentive, arch-rival Ferrari had returned to the arena with the 333 SP prototype racer.

WSC95 cars featured carbon-fibre monocoque, carbon-fibre plastic body and flat underbody. The Joest Racing entered WSC95-001 won the Le Mans in 1996 and 1997. The car was signed up for Le Mans as a TWR WSC95. The WSC95-002 qualified as the fastest car for the 1996 Le Mans, but failed in the race because of electrics problem.
