WSOR has put prime movers back in it from a MARC E9. With the shiny new B-unit between the As, the trio makes a beautiful site and a fabulous show piece for the road. According to the company, this is the only fully operational A-B-A set of E9's in the country.

2011年1月18日 · I bought myself a Aristocraft Amtrak E8/9 with the intentions of turning it into the 3rd WSOR executive E unit. 103 was the easiest to model with the aristo e8, since they are relatively close to begin with.

The E9 is a 2,400-horsepower (1,790 kW), A1A-A1A passenger train-hauling diesel locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division of La Grange, Illinois, between April 1954 and January 1964. 100 cab-equipped A units were produced and 44 cabless booster B units, all for service in the United States.

Last Thursday I had the priviledge of riding a special train which was the first official run of the WSOR's E9 ABA set. The B unit just underwent an 18 month build/rebuild. We took the CP to Duplainville, then the CN to Slinger and from there the WSOR to Horicon.

Friends of the 261 are now the proud owners of an original Milwaukee Road EMD E9. This classic locomotive, with its iconic streamline design will make a great addition to the Friends fleet. While the engine is close to perfection, it still needs some minor mechanical work and most of all a paint job to match the fleet.
