The Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) provides fixed route and paratransit services to Winston-Salem residents. WSTA currently offers a number of routes that travel throughout the city, offering access to shopping, employment, entertainment, and residential opportunities.

Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) provides transit service for the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was established in 1972 after the city took over transit operations from Safe Bus Company.

Today, WSTA operates a large fleet and serves a considerable number of passengers on a daily basis. In 2024, the City of Winston-Salem voted to approve a contract with RATP Dev USA to begin operating the Winston-Salem Transit Authority’s bus system.

WSTA defined service standards in July 2022, with the primary measure of route success being boardings per hour. It costs the same amount of money to run the bus for one hour anywhere. The more people who board per hour, the more lives WSTA positively impacts per dollar spent.
