WASP-78b is a highly bloated Jupiter-mass exoplanet. It is orbiting an F-type star and was discovered and analyzed using WASP, TRAPPIST and CORALIE data. It is one of the hottest known exoplanets with an equilibrium temperature of 2350 degrees Kelvin.

In this paper we report the detection of WASP-78b and WASP-79b, two highly-bloated Jupiter-mass planets in orbit around F-type stars. We present the WASP-South discovery photometry, together with follow-up optical photometry and radial velocity measurements.

The host star WASP-78 has apparent magnitude of 12.0, with absolute magnitude of 2.3. It is 2.0 times more massive and 2.3 times bigger compared with our Sun.
