I used a Platinum Gray grout on my ceramic shower tile, I'm looking for a sealer that will waterproof my tile seams without changing the color of the grout.

2024年6月14日 · Instead, a flexible color-matched caulk is used in those areas so the when the walls move, the joint keeps looking good - if a hard grout was used, the grout will crack as you are seeing. Caulk does not waterproof. Grout sealant does not waterproof, it just make the grout easier to clean while helping to maintain the original color.

2024年1月4日 · Showers are supposed to be built so that everything under the tile is wateproof. Tile, grout, and caulk are not meant to waterproof your shower from the outside. There is so much caulk missing there that I assume you would already have noticed leaking by now.

2011年2月27日 · Several years ago I used 12"x12' tiles in my shower and 1/4" grout lines. I used tub & bath caulking at the floor where the wall meets the pan tile. About every 7-8 months, I must re-seal the tile and replace the caulking as water penetration releases the caulking. And there are days of waiting...

2006年11月20日 · Grout will always absorb some moisture, that's just the way it is. You could seal that portion of the grout and all of the grout for that matter. The sealer is intended to be stain and water reisitant but not necessarily waterproof, in fact most all tile sealers are vapor transmissive.

2022年10月24日 · I did recessed showers with tile floors and no lip 17 years ago. These were my first recessed showers. I used 2x4 to create recess when slab was formed. I did the slope without pre-formed insert. It worked but now I believe the 3.5 recess was too deep. I am currently designing a new home with recessed shower floors.

2021年3月29日 · Grout should never be used where two planes meet (wall to ceiling, wall to floor, corner of shower to adjacent wall). The grout shoved into the cracks where the wall meet the floor will ALWAYS crack. They specifically make sanded and unsanded caulk the same color as the grout in the rest of the area that's tiled.

2008年9月14日 · Tile is not waterproof. Grout is not waterproof. Tile and grout together are not waterproof. So...water under the tile is natural. Doesn't matter which grout is used, makes no difference. I suspect you have one of two possibilities taking place - maybe both. In either event, the shower is improperly constructed and you need to call the installer.

2024年4月7日 · But it should not matter if the grout "leaks". Grout is not designed to be waterproof. If the shower is built correctly, water will be directed to a pre fab base, or a packed base with a PVC liner, where the water is directed to the drain. Where is the water leaking TO?
