Weighted Average, based on Date - Microsoft Community
I have an Excel spreadsheet with 3 columns: Date, Volume & Price. I need to get the weighted average price by date (monthly). I know how to get the answer by sorting the column by date, and then inserting the sumproduct formula at the end of the date range. The data is updated fairly frequently, so the number of rows will increase over time.

2013年6月19日 · For the data below this produces a weighted average of 5. because both numbers in Col C are the same so the weighting is not relevant. If you add a 4 to row 2 the weighted average then becomes 4.576923. You can demonstrate the weighting is working by putting the 4 in row 2 and getting 4.576923 and then putting a zero against that in Col B.

2011年5月13日 · A (weighted) moving average is just another method. Which forecast trend to use is a subjective decision. Ideally, it is based on historical trends that cover at least the same period for which you want to forecast. IMHO, a (weighted) moving average should be used to smooth curves -- reduce the effect of "bumps" in the data.

2023年2月8日 · It is unclear what you mean by "weighted VegM". Since you mention 106.66 (sic), I think you want something like column E (below), which I label "weighted avg VegM" for each PID. (Note that 106.67 (rounded correctly) is the "weighted avg VegM" for PID 6012.) The "weighted avg VegM" is calculated only for the first appearance of a PID.
