What does a flywheel do and what is it connected to?
2016年1月12日 · Another such item, like unto a flywheel is a flexplate. This is a thin plate which connects the engine to a torque converter in automatic transmissions. While it provides the starting, connection, and balance of a flywheel, it alone does not have enough mass to provide the rotational inertia.
What are the benefits of a lightweight flywheel and why aren't …
2016年4月20日 · What does a flywheel do and what is it connected to? Flywheels on motorcycles will frequently be used in a dual-homed role, taking on the role of an alternator as well. Image from KTM and MotoUSA. Attributes. A lower weight flywheel will allow for a faster response to fuel input from the rider due to it's lower weight and Newton's First Law of ...
engine theory - Why is a flywheel important to a car? - Motor …
A flywheel is used to even out impulse, and to store energy (these are both the same thing in reality) An engine, especially when running slowly (such as when starting) has relatively large impulses from each cylinder firing, but without a flywheel there is very little to keep the crankshaft turning once the sparkplug had fitted and expanded the mixture in a cylinder.

2016年10月1日 · The flywheel is attached to the back of the engine. The pressure plate is attached to the flywheel. Sandwiched in between the two is the friction disk. The friction works a lot like brake pads, in that it grips the flywheel/pressure plate …
CLUTCH REPLACEMENT. ALWAYS A NEW FLYWHEEL? OR NOT?
2021年10月15日 · I did not learn my lesson though. When I did the clutch on my e46 at 150k miles, I did not do the flywheel. So far, so good, at 260k miles. I did stay with dual mass on the e36. The single mass flywheel won't fail, but there is a reason that they use dual mass flywheels.

2016年1月12日 · The flywheel is just a big metal disk at the end of the crankshaft. Your clutch plate is a round piece of friction material (just like a brake disk) that is pressed hard onto the flywheel so it can transfer the power from the engine to …
Does the flywheel really complete 33 revolutions per second when …
2020年2月24日 · My car's RPM meter says x1,000 for each notch, therefore when set to 2 this implies 2,000 RPM. I can't visualise an engine's flywheel turning 33 times per second when the car is set to 2,000 RPM - it seems excessive. Have I misunderstood RPM or is that actually how fast the heavy flywheel turns and the pistons rotate the camshaft?
Do i need a new flywheel if i replace my clutch?
2010年8月31日 · Didn't replace mine and I get clutch chatter now. Not sure if the 6-speed flywheel is the same as the 5spd but I know for the 5spd autozone carries the OEM sachs dual mass flywheel way cheaper than the dealer. Apparently you are …
How do I know if my car has a dual mass flywheel?
A torque converter automatic transmission does not normally need a dual mass flywheel because the torque converter does the job, but a DSG is a twin shaft twin clutch preselector automatic and does need a DMF to protect the transmission from too much sudden torque transfer. The hesitation is not due to 'turbo lag'.
