I really enjoyed your analysis of Lucy Gray's fate in the Hunger Games. It's interesting to see the different theories circulating. I agree with your point about the lake; the drowning theory doesn't quite add up. I also think Lucy Gray's intelligence and resourcefulness make it plausible that she survived for some time after Snow left the woods.

Not in the way that they should be completely different people, but that it should be clear about where one ends and the other begins.

Haymitch was never presented as the first victor from district 12, he was presented as the second. He's presented as the only one who's still alive, which is very plausible. Even if Lucy Gray survived Snow's attack, who knows how long she could've survived out there. Certainly not for another 64 years all by herself.

Like so many old ballads have these tragic endings to their stories (or, like Lucy Gray's own namesake ballad, ambiguous). There is a part of me that wants to think/does think that she survived somehow because it makes sense for the Hanging Tree song to circulate and also the parallels between Lucy Gray and the little we know of Katniss's father.
