2013年4月14日 · Nitrocellulose lacquer paints were in fact developed by DuPont in the 1920's specifically NOT to breathe, but to be a sealant against the forces of nature for automotive applications. I'm not saying Nitrocellulose Lacquer finishes aren't good finishes, and aren't good for a guitar's tone, but they DON'T allow the wood to "breathe".

2018年11月1日 · All of the lacquer rubbed off to bare wood. I thought that perhaps I had sanded to thin so I repaired the area. I began to notice that the lacquer is dulling on the back of the instrument as well where it rest against my body. This problem repeated itself on the second instrument as well. Has anyone else used Mohawk Classical Instrument Lacquer?

2013年8月17日 · How long does nitrocellulose lacquer need to dry before it is safe to stick in a case and take home? Is that even possible to do in a reasonable amount of time? I was thinking about taking a full day to shoot lacquer in the morning, play with CAD software all day in the facility while I wait, then bring the guitar home in the evening.

2013年4月15日 · Let it sit and cure. It clouds up a little when I lay on a heavy coat. Looks like classic lacquer blush, but cures out in about a day. I don't apply any more until it clears, but it always clears. It's not fully cured and at it's final hardness for a few months. After about a month it no longer smells like lacquer and is 99% cured.

I hear it is easier to work with, takes less coats, and it will be ready for sanding much quicker. Has anyone used conversion varnish and do you find that it is an improvement over lacquer...

2017年7月12日 · I have purchased some satin finish nitrocellulose lacquer from Stew Mac (as I thought the original finish was nitro). My research thus far indicates that Fender often sprays nitro over urethane - though not sure if the sources are accurate. So, I guess I'm looking for some general guidance and opinions on best / easiest methods or techniques.

2013年9月5日 · these basically break down the solids in nitrocellulose back into their organic base elements. and because people all have different "formulation" of oils.. some people's oils will do more damage than others. Regular cleaning and using a carnuba based wax often will help. but eventually the finish will wear completely off.

2014年11月8日 · Lacquer is explosive and a known carcinogen . One cannot be too cautious when spraying or handling it . Don't know enough about these heaters , so common sense says no until absolutely sure of safety . Be wise and careful .

2017年12月23日 · i am about to finish my les paul project. After 3 coats of cellulose sealer, sanded at grit 600 between each coat. I applied the first layer of nitrocellulose yellow translucent for my sunburst but there are two spits and in some points, there is not enough laquer (near the neck particularly) so there is a tone difference.
