Aug 4, 2002 · bob ross often used liquid clear as a prerequisite to painting. he will coat the canvas in liquid clear for the paints to go on to the canvas easier and blend better. what artists have been using for centuries to get this effect is a light coat of linseed oil which is very inexpensive when compared to liquid clear and it’s stood the test of time.

Feb 12, 2003 · liquid mask for watercolors by shiva is what I recently tried. I remove the masking while the paint is still wet or ‘tacky’ because an art teacher I had once said to do that. Of course I don’t paint over the masking I use it to protect edges of forground things if I want to go and redo something in the background.

Sep 26, 2016 · You could also make your own liquid white. Just mix your white paint with a medium, if you already have a WMO medium. The purpose is to make a slicker surface (but not too slick) so that you’re not painting on a dry surface and making blending easier. Dec 12, 2009 · Liquid clear, liquid white and liquid black have a long open times if I remember correctly. I am thinking weeks, but it has been a long time since I tried the stuff. The best thing to do at this point is just wait and let it dry. Then you could re-paint the areas, oil it out or try some spar varnish to even out the gloss.

Anyhow, I’ve used Bob Ross’s liquid clear with oil paint (using the wet on wet technique) and have had some really unique results/ effects. I would apply a thin coat to the canvas before starting the painting.

Sep 20, 2000 · Liquid and/or Magic Clear are used instead of the usual Liquid and/or Magic White mediums. When using the “whites” the next application of paints are lightened as they mix with the “white”. If you want to maintain the depth then you use the clear instead. As you may have noticed you will get a “glazed” look when the painting dries.
