2023年6月8日 · Phishing is a type of online scam that targets consumers by sending them an e-mail that appears to be from a well-known source – an internet service provider, a bank, or a mortgage company, for example. It asks the consumer to provide personal identifying information.

And that’s it. That’s how easy it is to report fraud. Scammers don’t just scam one person, so if you detect a scam, help your community, help protect your friends, your family, by reporting it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Thanks for watching – and thanks for reporting fraud.

Check it out. Look up the website or phone number for the company or person behind the text or email. Make sure that you’re getting the real company and not about to download malware or talk to a scammer.

Romance scammers tell all sorts of lies to steal your heart and money, and reports to the FTC show those lies are working. Last year’s romance scam numbers looked a lot like 2021 all over again, and it’s not a pretty picture. In 2022, nearly 70,000 people reported a romance scam, and reported losses hit a staggering $1.3 billion. [1]
