Maroon is about Joe (I think Maroon is the sequel to Cornelia Street). The reference to scarlet maroon in COSOSOM isn’t to imply that the song is about the same person, but instead to alluding that Matty may have been present for her recording/writing of Maroon.

Surprisingly, a majority of Maroon 5's original line-up from "Songs About Jane" remains in the band. Alongside Adam Levine, James Valentine and Jesse Caramichael still comprise Maroon 5.
