There are two entrances to Whatcom Falls Park. To access the sports field and upper playground, use the entrance at 1401 Electric Ave. To access the picnic shelters, fish hatchery, lower playground, creek bridge and derby pond, use the entrance on Silver Beach Road off Lakeway Drive. Whirlpool Falls is about 0.3 miles down the trail from Whatcom Falls, and can also be accessed directly off Arbor Street. The water cascades down a dramatic chute at Whirlpool Falls! There are signs warning that cliff jumping or diving might lead to serious injury, due to large rocks, slippery surfaces, and shallow water.

2015年6月21日 · Way too many people die at Whatcom falls each summer. It's not the height of the drop, but the whirlpools underneath that hold you under. My favorite place for cliff jumping is Baker Lake. It's up highway 20, about an hour from here, but the jumps are amazing and can be 60+feet tall in places.

During the summer one can usually watch swimmers jumping from these tall cliffs into the punchbowl pool below. The falls are located along the "Whirlpool Loop Trail." Swimming at these falls was outlawed for a number of years following the pipeline disaster, of which damage is visible from popular cliffs.
