2022年2月14日 · In 1969 Mattel released the Wizzzer, a new twist on the classic spinning top. In scientific terms, the Wizzzer was classified as a gyrostat, thanks to the gyroscope it contained within its bulbous plastic casing. The toy also had a pin that protruded from its bottom, surrounded by a rubber nub to further differentiate itself from traditional tops.

Whirligig toys made of hammered lead musket balls or coins too old and thin to be of value have been excavated from early American town, plantation, and military camp sites. Mentioned in English literature as early as 1686, these toys have also been found in Native American cliff ruins, indicating the toy’s antiquity in North America.

Attach one or two discs together on the string to make a heavier disc. Decorate the faces of larger discs, longs spirals work very well.
