Oct 1, 2015 · After 1955 the engine was only used in the wagons and trucks and in 1957 or so Willys changed the cam to favor low end torque and switched to a 1 Bbl carb to save money. The later engines were rated at 105 hp.

Oct 23, 2009 · The engine in my 1964 FC chassis -- the original engine -- is a 6.86 and is/was silver. The page above is from a Parts List, so perhaps as Willys built engines to be sold as replacements, they color-coded them in the colors above to help easily keep track of which was which once assembled.

We should count ourselves lucky that they splurged on engine paint at all (by then transmissions and transfer cases were bare cast iron, steering gearboxes and driveshafts were red oxide primer).

As LarrBeard alluded to, your engine is an industrial engine that came out of a generator, welder, air compressor, or any other host of applications.
