Windir ("Warrior" in English) was a black metal band from Sogndal, Norway. The band was formed in 1994 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Terje "Valfar" Bakken, and released its debut album, Sóknardalr, in 1997.

Windir is an ancient Norse word, translatable as "warrior". Most of the band's early albums featured lyrics written in the Sognamål dialect, a Western Norwegian dialect that is spoken in the area of Sogn. Windir broke up in March 2004 after Valfar died of hypothermia after becoming caught in a blizzard on his way to his family's cabin.

Windir was a black metal band from Sogndal, Norway. The band was formed in 1994 as a one-man-band by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Terje “Valfar” Bakken. As a one-man-band Windir released its debut album “Sóknardalr” in 1997 and “Arntor” in 1999. In 2001 Windir became a full band when the members from the local band Ulcus joined Valfar.

2001年11月19日 · June 15th, 1184 - Battle of Fimreite: King Sverre of Norway defeats and kills his rival, Magnus V (Erlingsson) near Fimreite, (Sogne area). Sverre takes the throne and becomes the sole ruler of Norway (until 1202). Comes with a 12-page booklet. Recorded and mixed in Akkerhaugen Lydstudio, Akkerhaugen, Norway during June/July 2001.
