Worldcon, officially the World Science Fiction Convention, the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS), is a science fiction convention. It has been held each year since 1939 (except for the years 1942 to 1945, during World War II). [1]

Although both Worldcon and NASFiC are conventions sanctioned by WSFS, only Worldcon includes a WSFS membership. Joining NASFiC does not include a WSFS membership and does not convey the right to nominate and vote on the Hugo Awards or to participate in the selection of future Worldcon sites. Purposes:

Worldcon is the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). It was first held in 1939 and, after a hiatus during WWII, has been held continuously since 1946. The membership of WSFS is every member of the current Worldcon.

The 83rd World Science Fiction Convention , also known as Seattle Worldcon 2025, will be held in August 13–17, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. The science fiction convention will be chaired by Kathy Bond.

What is Worldcon? Worldcon, aka the World Science Fiction Convention, is the annual international gathering of science fiction and fantasy fans, writers, artists, musicians and other creators. First held in New York City in 1939, Worldcon moves around the globe, held in a different city and organized by a different volunteer organization each year.

Note that each Worldcon is an independent entity responsible for maintaining its own web site, and that worldcon.org does not archive past Worldcons’ sites. The FANAC Fan History Site does attempt to archive past Worldcons’ web sites.
