From Wrenthorpe south junction on the Doncaster to Leeds Line 3/4 of a mile north of Wakefield Westgate, to Adwalton Junction, on the GN Wakefield Bradford line, via Alverthorpe, Flushdyke, Ossett, Chickenley Heath, Batley GN, Upper Batley & Howden Clough. Before fully opened the BW&LR changed its name to the West Yorkshire Railway.

The Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds Railway was an independent railway company that built a line between Wakefield and a junction close to Leeds, in Yorkshire, England. [1] It opened its main line in 1857, and was worked by the Great Northern Railway .

Wrenthorpe is a village north-west of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, England. It is located in the Rhubarb Triangle. Although earlier remains, such as Roman coins and pottery, have been found in the area, the current settlement dates from after the Domesday Book ' s compilation in 1086. [2]

Wrenthorpe Village has an intriguing and diverse history, including many different industries from coal mining to pottery. Edward Green’s book ‘Wrenthorpe – A History’ theorises that there are two possible origins of the name of the village.
