My guess is the Beldam used a lot of soul sand to make other Wybie and the other Dad, meaning they sympathised with Coraline and wanted to help her escape. This is why other Wybie continuously helps her and the other Dad gives her the garden eye before he dies and tells her, "I'm so sorry," before becoming part of the broken world.

2020年1月4日 · In the movie Coraline, there are only a few references to Wybie's grandmother, and her missing sister. A few include when Wybie is first telling Coraline about why he had never been inside the Pink Palace, and another is after Coraline had escaped the other world after being put behind the mirror, and supposedly meeting the missing sister.

2021年4月22日 · It was my impression (and clarified in an interview with the movie director) that Wybie was added to the movie to give Coraline someone to talk to. A lot of the novel is Coraline's internal dialogue, and adding Wybie as a side character allowed for the movie to flow better and to give Coraline a soundboard of sorts so the storyline could continue.

I mean he seems biracial with his loose curly hair, green eyes, and light skin but it could also be possible that he’s just light-skinned and green eyes just runs in the family. 2022年2月5日 · The other wybie and other father are the only character's (other than the cat and three ghost kids we see) in the over world who attempt to help Coraline escape. Wybie saves Coraline from the mirror dimension which the Beldam(other mother) trapped her in. He then helps her get back to the little door and escape.

2023年8月9日 · There is also the scene where Wybie takes the doll back from Coraline and says his grandma was really mad that he gave it to her. So maybe Coraline's parents were really desperate and so she made an exception for them and then locked the Coraline doll away to protect her. It's just weird to imagine her offering up another kid.

2021年10月2日 · Mix that in with the anger she realizes at Wybie for giving her the doll - the catalyst for the whole mess - and you have a whole shoe-throwing showdown. She is a child, Wybie is a child, she doesn't see him as someone who can help her so she doesn't bother with trying to explain better.

2018年3月8日 · Coraline’s been one of my favorite movies for the past 8 years or so: I love Wybie. Like he can be annoying but in an endearing way. And the Other Wybie is amazing. Especially the bit where Coraline urges him to escape with her, and he just shakes his head, takes off his glove, and blows himself into dust. I don’t know. I dig him.

2017年1月8日 · Anyways, I was uber obsessed with the film and as a hardcore fan of Coraline, I did some research on the differences between the novel and film adaption and one of the differences that I did not like was that the character of Wybie did not appear in the novel. It was honestly quite disappointing that Coraline had no human sidekick in the novel.
