The Boeing X-32 is a concept demonstrator aircraft that was designed for the Joint Strike Fighter competition. It lost to the Lockheed Martin X-35 demonstrator, which was further developed into the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II.

2001年4月1日 · While Italeri's kit reflects some of the late design features, some of its shapes clearly miss those seen in photos of the rollout and first flight. The most noticeable differences include "vertical" (actually canted outward) fins that are much narrower than the prototype's, and a forward fuselage that is not broad enough at the cockpit.

The Boeing X-32 was developed and realized around a large one piece carbon fiber composite delta wing and characterized by the big size air intake placed under the cockpit. The Lockheed Martin reply was based on the XF-35, using a lot of technology and aerodynamic solutions already successfully adopted on the fighter F-22 Raptor.

Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good. Hard-to-find kit of the Boeing entry in the CALF - Common Affordable Lightweight Fighter. Although a capable aircraft and well designed, it lost the competition to the superior Lockheed X-35. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including decals and instructions.

This is the first offering, the 1/72 scale Boeing X-32, being the conventional take-off aircraft. It is a nice little kit which goes together well, is reasonably priced, and can be recommended to those with an interest in the new generation of fighting aircraft, prototypes, or just like unusual shapes - and with that nose it certainly is!
