Revamping the XJS V12 cooling system In the XJS HE, the cooling system of Jaguar's V12 has a number of problems to overcome, partly because Jaguar styling gurus insisted the elegant bonnet must be extremely low. By contrast, modern Jaguar sports cars tower over the XJS. The Lyons era Jaguar's styling, while aerodynamically led, was a sacrosanct ...
Vintage Review: MotorWeek Drives the 1987 Jaguar XJ-S
The 5.3-liter V12 looks shoehorned into the engine bay with an overly complicated throttle linkage whirling away. Given British cars’ reliability records by this time, we understand that reticence. Still, MotorWeek found an awful lot to be happy about in the XJ-S. Quarter-mile speeds came awfully close to 100 miles per hour, which was quite ...
Just 36K on the Clock: One-Owner 1985 Jaguar XJS V12
2021年1月4日 · The XJS remains the cheapest way to score a GT car with a V12 engine, so if nothing but 12 pots will do, it’s an attractive proposition. Now, like other Jags of the era, prices have never really taken off, and if you’re looking for a solid example of the XJS, this Damson Red beauty recently posted on Bring a Trailer deserves a look.
Advice on buying a Jaguar XJS - FinalGear.com Forums
2011年6月26日 · To clarify, FordCrusher here is the XJS/V12 guy in our little circle, and I'll gladly cede primacy in the subject (though my experiences with the V12 differ from his). I'm the sedan/inline six guy. Calling these cars unreliable and having a lot of problems is due to either not having any experience with them, or having experience with an idiot ...
Jaguar V12 cooling system maintenance explained. This is written in response to many claims of V12, mainly XJS, running hot. It's cracked, partially melted and brittle, so it would be insane to reinstall it after all the work I've done. There really isn't much to this harness so you can only imagine my...

V12: From U.S. to European Compression Rate? - Jaguar Forums
2017年11月26日 · Maybe I have problem. I have XJS 1988, Hess&Eisenhardt, Lucas, V12, US spec car. The original engine was completely cooked and blue. The previous owner drove without water until the engine stopped. So I bought European XJS, I took the bare engine (block) and put on it the US spec accessories from the old engine.
The XJS was built with either a 6 or 12 cylinder engine. The 6 cylinder cars, however, were not common in North America until the introduction of the “facelift” XJS in 1992. The 5.3 /6.0 litre V12 is a great engine and nearly indestructible unless overheated. They are definitely more complicated, expensive, and time consuming to work on ...
