The HK XM8 Modular Weapon System is a gas operated, rotating bolt rifle that was designed as a cost effective, reliable weapon system to replace the much respected M16. As of 2013, the XM8 is one of the standard service rifles of the 5th Special Forces Group, also known as Ghost Recon .

2019年1月9日 · Ghost Recon 2 used the XM8 which was a prototype at the time. GRAW used the cross com specs and more prototype weaponry. GRFS used the optical camo. The Grecon games have always implemented experimental technology for the team of Ghost Recon, giving it that future vibe. The exceptions being the original Ghost Recon and Wildlands until recently.

The XM8 Compact is a personal defense weapon variant of the baseline XM8 rifle. While it's essentially a short-barrelled carbine variant of the XM8, the Compact is actually more comparable to being a personal defense weapon rather than an actual carbine.

In the Xbox version of the game, the M320 is erroneously shown as having a forward-sliding barrel for loading (like the M203). The M320's barrel actually pivots to the side.

Heckler & Koch XM8 (PC only) The Heckler & Koch XM8 appears in the game, and it can be used by the player and assigned to the player's teammates. Labelled the "M8 Carbine" ingame, the lack of an "X" designation implies that it was adopted en masse by the US forces in the game's backstory, and indeed several US Marines ingame are seen using it.
