Xarelto® is a blood thinner that treats or prevents blood clots. You may need it if you had a blood clot in your leg or lung. Or you may need it because you have atrial fibrillation but no heart valve issues.

Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism. The recommended dose is 20 mg once daily, which is also the recommended maximum dose. Therapy with Xarelto should be continued long term provided the benefit of prevention of stroke and systemic embolism outweighs the risk of bleeding (see section 4.4).

Rivaroxaban is used to prevent blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used to prevent blood clots from forming in high-risk patients with limited mobility during their hospital stay and after discharge.

Xarelto 15 mg and 20 mg should be taken with food. Xarelto 2.5 mg and 10 mg can be taken with or without food. Xarelto oral suspension should be taken with feeding or with food.
