With excess AsF 5 a complex 2XeOF 4 ·AsF 5 is formed which is unstable at room temperature. Solutions of AsF 5 in XeOF 4 are highly conductive. This and spectral evidence indicates that complex formation occurs via fluoride ion transfer.
