
Why I love Xie Lian as a Character: Analysis/Discussion
2021年4月12日 · Xie Lian, in the majority of TGCF, is a beaten down and somewhat broken man with a stubborn grip on his ideal to protect the common people. Book 2 introduces us to the original version of Xie Lian- a 17 year old, naive, arrogant, spoiled prince who has an over-idealistic interpretation of the world and view of justice.
How Xie Lian fell in love (Heavy Spoilers and Superlong)
Xie Lian never wanted to control anybody, especially someone special like Hua Cheng, and he understands Hua Cheng's reasons. They don't have to fight or feel betrayed or anything of that sort. Even when Xie Lian performs the soul switching spell, he thinks about how Hua Cheng may have caught his limp body, as he flies to SQX.

so at the time, xie lian was in a lake because a fetus spirit was trying to get into him via his mouth. however, the fetus spirit couldn't go underwater, so xie lian would have a temporary escape, but he still had to breathe, and he thought he would go abovewater, breathe even if he had to swallow the ghost, and just swallow his sword afterwards to absorb the ghost.

2023年2月19日 · Xie Lian in turn would probably feel better if he also apologized for unknowingly making FX abandon the woman he loved. FX and Jian Lan was a ridiculous ending imo. JL instead of talking to FX tells XL how she feels, XL then doesn't talk to FX either iirc.

I was rereading the novel, and just realized that the details of how exactly he treats Xie Lian from the beginning of the recent ascension are really eye opening, as opposed to when we watch the donghua.
