2023年4月16日 · I'd like to see a definitive answer to the OP's question. It'd be logical to expect to see an early 604 marked XM16 (since it is known that early 603 examples were marked XM16E1) but I've never even seen a photo of any "XM16" marked 604. My theory is that they don't exist.

2005年2月19日 · You see this with the XM16/M16 and XM16E1/M16A1, as well as, with the XM177 and XM177E1. Interestingly enough in both cases the Air Force guns, come second in the Colt numbering system. 603 being the XM16E1/M16A1 and the 604 being the XM16/M16, while the 609 is the XM177E1 and the 610 is the XM177.

2017年12月21日 · For a while the XM16E1 (603) and the XM16 (604) were identical other than the forward assist and markings. The early ones both had the improved 3-prong (2nd version flash suppressor), chrome BCG, D stock, Edgewater buffer, partial fence (just for front captive pin), and dimpled FCG pins.

2018年11月11日 · The xm16e1 was a transitional model it was common for it to have a mix of original and modern parts. I to am building a cone of an xm16e1 and I am going to have the modern mag button( circle pattern) and assembly and the dimpled take down and pivot pins and a dimpled fire selector dimpled on both sides and finally a flat bottom bolt catch/release

I am trying to go with all original Colt parts and make it as close to original as possible. I have a sweet Braceman XM16 lower as my starting point.
