The Yamaha XTZ 660 Ténéré is a dual-sport motorcycle produced by Yamaha from 1991 to 1999. [1] . The bike is named after the Ténéré desert stage of the former Paris-Dakar Rally in northeastern Niger. The 1991 to 1993 version has a rectangular front light, while the 1994 and later models had two circular lights.

In 1991 the XTZ660 appeared, the last model of the single cylinder Ténéré. This model no longer has much in common with the first Ténéré. The petrol tank shrank again to 20 liters and the suspension travel was shortened to 220mm at the front and 200mm at the rear.

The Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré is a dual-sport motorcycle manufactured from 2008 to 2016 by Yamaha. [1] . It featured a 660 cc (40 cu in) single-cylinder engine manufactured by Minarelli, which was also used in the XT660R, XT660X, MT-03 ( 2006–2014), Jawa 660 Sportard, Jawa 660 Vintage and Aprilia Pegaso 650 Trail (post 2007) models.

On first impressions, you can't help but notice the Rotax-built, four-valve, liquid-cooled 652cc fuel-injected powerplant in the Dakar is an absolute gem. The donk, while sharing many of the same characteristics as the earlier carburetted Funduro incarnations, has a new cylinder head that follows a grounding found in BMW's M3 car.
