Nov 16, 2009 · My 1996 Camaro RS has the Y87 package & it has the same steering ratio as the z28 / ta, rear disc brakes, 3.42 rear end & dual exhaust. Those 4 items pretty much made up the "performance handling package" as they called it. It had to have different front springs from the z28 or the ta due to the lighter engine.

May 23, 2014 · Y87 is the rpo for the sportier ground effects and other things for the rs. You might want to check your vin number to see if your car left the factory as a z28. Position 8 of vin number will be a P if original z28. If position 8 is a K, car came from factory with 3.8 v6 and is an rs.

Jan 27, 2006 · Get the door codes before you buy a car. just becuase you have factory dual exhaust does not mean the car is y87 package. BUT>>>you still might have a 3.42 rear differential even if the car is not Y87. Check and compare the door codes. With all the mods including the SC i still get 20 mpg combo driving and about 28 mpg on the hwy.
