The YPR-765 entered service in 1975 and was first committed in action with IFOR Bosnia in 1997. During the war in Afghanistan, several YPR-765s were fitted with additional armor (ERA bricks and slat armor).

The YPR-765 is a tracked armoured vehicle in use by The Royal Netherlands Army. The Royal Netherlands Army has some 1600 vehicles in different versions. At the infantry for troop transport and at the cavalry for reconnaissance. The YPR-765 is currently used on the Dutch operation in Uruzgan, Afghanistan.

The YPR-765 are designed for various tasks: reconnaissance, engineering work, rapid assistance, anti-tank actions, cargo transportation, crowd control, combating mass disturbances, and mortar use. Equipped with a Detroit Diesel Allison 6V-53T engine with 267 horsepower, these 13-ton vehicles can reach speeds of 61 km/h and have a range of 490 km.

2022年5月14日 · Ukrainian Army has received its first YPR-765 armoured infantry vehicles from Netherlands, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed on Saturday. According to a press release from the Ukrainian military, Army recently received the first tranche of Western weapons, including Dutch YPR-765 vehicles.

The platoon command group is mounted in a YPR-765 armoured infantry fighting vehicle and has one 7.62mm FN MAG GPMG and two M47 Dragon anti-tank guided missile systems.

De Landmacht had hier ongeveer driehonderd YPR’s van het type PRAT (pantserrups anti-tank) voor. Er waren verder onder meer uitvoeringen van de YPR voor commandovoering, genietaken, berging, gewondentransport en om mortieren te trekken.

De YPR-765 is een licht pantservoertuig. Het was het standaard infanteriegevechtsvoertuig voor de Nederlandse pantserinfanterie en bedoeld om in de voorste linies gebruikt te worden om infanteristen snel en beschermd te verplaatsen. De bemanning bestaat uit drie personen, een voertuig commandant, een bestuurder en een schutter.
