The Yakovlev Yak-9 (Russian: Яковлев Як-9; NATO reporting name: Frank) [2] is a single-engine, single-seat multipurpose fighter aircraft used by the Soviet Union and its allies during World War II and the early Cold War.

Yak-9型 戰鬥機，是 蘇聯 在 二次大戰 時的兩大主力戰鬥機型之一，為產量最多的型號，另一型則是產量相對較少的 La-5 ／ La-7 系列。 Yak-9一共生產超過1萬6千架，也是自Yak-1以來全系列當中產量最大的一型。 在 蘇德戰爭 初期，雅克-1的表現遠優於當時蘇聯空軍的主力 伊-16 戰鬥機，成為唯一能夠和 Bf 109 E/F型單挑的機型。

The Yak-9 was not the best Soviet fighter but, due chiefly to its ruggedness, stability, simplicity and cheapness of production, 16,769 aircraft were delivered between 1942 and 1948, the largest number of one single design built for service in armed forces of the USSR.

In air combat, the Yak-9D had a slight advantage over the Bf-109G-2 and FW-190A-8 in turns up to altitudes of 3500 m, and when half the fuel was used up, it was possible to fight in a vertical maneuver. The experience of combat use of the Yak-9D together with the conventional Yak-9 and Yak-9T was not in favor of the former.
