According to the Book of Genesis, Judah (יְהוּדָה ‎, Yehudah) was the name of the fourth son of the patriarch Jacob. During the Exodus, the name was given to the Tribe of Judah, descended from the patriarch Judah. After the conquest and settlement of the land of Canaan, Judah also referred to the territory allocated to the tribe.

Usage: The term "Yehudi" refers to a member of the tribe of Judah or, more broadly, to someone belonging to the kingdom of Judah. Over time, it came to denote anyone of the Jewish faith or ethnicity, especially after the Babylonian exile when the identity of the Israelites became more closely associated with the tribe of Judah.

The words Yehud, Yehuda, Judah, Judea, and Jew all basically mean the same thing, though often refer to slightly different things depending on the context. It basically refers to the Southern Kingdom of Israel which consisted of two tribes, Yehuda and Benjamin, as well as some members of the tribe of Levi.
