Posterior urethral valve (PUV) is the most common cause of lower urinary tract obstruction in male children with a broad spectrum of clinical presentation, disease severity and associated sequelae. [1, 2] Progressive renal deterioration is common and 25-40% of PUV patients develop renal failure at varying ages. [2, 3, 4]

Posterior urethral valve (PUV) disorder is an obstructive developmental anomaly in the urethra and genitourinary system of male newborns. [1] A posterior urethral valve is an obstructing membrane in the posterior male urethra as a result of abnormal in utero development. It is the most common cause of bladder outlet obstruction in male newborns.

Urine routine microscopy showed 4–5 pus cells/HPF. Ultrasonography of the abdomen revealed thickening of the bladder wall with normal upper tracts.
