BBC Young Reporter is the BBC’s journalism and media project supporting young people to develop content creation skills, find out about careers in broadcasting and share their own stories.

The Young Journalists’ Academy (YJA) is a unique programme free for young people. We aim to inspire and train the newsmakers of tomorrow. In partnership with some of the world’s leading media organisations, the YJA gives aspiring journalists the skills and the contacts they need to kick-start their careers in the media.

Since 2010, Youth Journalism International’s annual contest has showcased some of the best teen journalism in the world. Now in its 16th year, YJI’s competition recognizes stellar work by young writers, photographers, and artists worldwide in dozens of categories.

The Initiative invests in the future of journalism and democracy by providing resources and training in youth journalism; news, information and media literacy; and the First Amendment and civic education.

The Young Reporter scheme gives students aged 14-18 an opportunity to write for a real live online newspaper. Established for fifteen years, the scheme has benefited thousands of students, enabling them to experience real life in the media.

Young Journalist Ireland (the new name for what was ‘Press Pass’) is a Student Journalism and News Literacy programme for Transition Year students run by NewsBrands Ireland, the industry body for Ireland’s national news publishers.
