Yuji took longer to gain Sukuna's cursed technique due to the incomplete nature of Sukuna's soul with in him. This is reinforced by Sukuna instantly acquiring Megumi's cursed technique upon initially taking over Megumi's body (who's soul was complete), even before achieving what he considered complete suppression.

IMO I like Sukuna in Yuji better.When I see Sukuna in Yuji’s body he just seems more evil and stronger to me.This may be because Yuji looks a lot like Sukunas old body.His facial expressions just look more demonic when he is in Yujis body.I also like Sukuna with Yujis clothes the hood gives me maniacal villain vibes
