2012年4月7日 · After doing some research today, I find that the damn starter is $400! I found a few replacements on ebay used, but I'm not sure that throwing a used starter in there is going to solve the problem. Any ideas on the recommended course of action here? Pull the starter apart and see if anything can be cleaned or repaired?

2009年2月15日 · The symptoms are as follows: When trying to start it makes a clunking noise at the area of the starter, at first this only happened now and then but has gotten progressivly worse and once bike is warmed up is less worse. I have already replaced the starter and the problem has not changed so my only other guess is the starter clutch.

2013年7月10日 · Normally when the battery voltage drops that low the starter lock out relay drops out and then you end up with the starter solenoid clicking away. You must have a good lock out relay which works at below 6 volts, some prefer 10 volts.

2011年8月24日 · Once everything was on the bike I went to start it and it only made a slight click noise. I tested the relay and according to the results the relay was bad. While the relay was unplugged I hit the start button and the starter turns over. I also jumped the terminals of the harness that go to the relay and got the fuel pump to turn over.

2009年10月11日 · left my 98 ZX9R in the garage for about 1 month. last night, tried to start it. of course you know what's gonna happen: just those really powerless starter motor noises. put it on a charger (a proper motorbike one) for the whole night. this morning, tried to start it again. I only gave it go for 4-5 times, then the battery died again.
