May 25, 2022 · The California Zephyr does have an observation car. The observation car is available to all passengers regardless of which ticket they have. The observation car is open 24 hours a day.

Dec 31, 2018 · Amtrak’s observation cars, called sightseer lounges, provide an amazing way to see the country on long-distance trains. There are currently only seven Superliner routes that have these lounges with floor to ceiling windows.

There is an observation car. Get there early for the Colorado portion of the journey. You can do a day trip between Denver and Salt Lake City for views of the Rocky Mountains. Exit the train in Denver if you want to rent a car or join a tour to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park.
