Zhang Shun is a fictional character in Water Margin, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Nicknamed "White Jumping in the Waves", he ranks 30th among the 36 Heavenly Spirits, the first third of the 108 Stars of Destiny.

Dr Shun Zhang received his BSc and MSc from Tongji University and PhD from Purdue University. Before joining City University in 2013, he worked as a research associate at Purdue University and Brown University. He is the recipient of the 2009 SIAM Student Paper prize. His major research interests include scientific computing and numerical analysis.
