Zyvox is an oxazolidinone antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Linezolid is also an MAO (monoamine oxidase) inhibitor. Zyvox is used to treat different types of bacterial infections, such as pneumonia, skin infections, and infections that are resistant to other antibiotics.
ZYVOX- linezolid injection, solution - Pfizer
ZYVOX is indicated for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia caused by Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible and -resistant isolates) or Streptococcus pneumoniae [see Clinical Studies (14)].
ZYVOXID tablets, oral suspension or solution for infusion may be used as initial therapy. Patients who commence treatment on the parenteral formulation may be switched to either oral presentation when clinically indicated. In such circumstances, no dose adjustment is required as ZYVOXID has an oral bioavailability of approximately 100 %.
