Nostalgia & History > Reading Company GP30 Locomotives
The Reading Company was the first railroad to take delivery of EMD's new GP30 locomotives back in 1962. The locomotives were significant as they were EMD's first Second Generation locomotive and they also introduced the green & yellow paint sceme on the Reading. First image westbound train at A
ScaleTrain's GP30... Good, Bad and Ugly
So even though these GP30's were modeled after late 1980's thru 1990's versions, they are close to around 1980 or so. I decided to order both large logo GP30's #3014 and 3027 as well as small herald #3014.
Nostalgia & History > First Production GP30 - Trainorders.com
The GP30 was EMD's answer to the U25B, so by this definition, the GP30 would be the first EMD second generation diesel. The "package of improvements" definition also leaves the door open for those inclined to deliniate subsequent generations.
Nostalgia & History > The eight Chicago Great Western GP30's
In this image taken by the late Robert (Bob) Malinowski, we see 50% of the Great Western' GP30 roster, and with them came the last new CGW paint scheme, replacing the "maroon dip" that had been introduced in 1954. Their famous "Lucky Strike" herald adorned the cab sides, and the

BNSF/LTEX GP30's for GP39-3 Rebuild Program
Couple of questions: 1) Does anybody have a list of the nee-AT&SF GP30's that BNSF recently bought back from Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX) for their GP39-3 rebuild program? 2) If so, have any of the new GP39-3 #25xx/#26xx-series numbers been assigned to these
Thursday (GP30), Friday (F40PH), Saturday (SDP40F)
Who says there's no rhyme or reason? Here's Thirty Thursday, F unit Friday, and SDP Saturday in one report. Thanks to TO member F40PHR231 posting a heads up regarding Nevada Southern Railroad and Dynamic Rail Preservation hosting an open house event, I was able to …
Lifelike Proto2000 GP30 DCC install question.
Just 1 GP30? That is not very Rio Grandish for a train routed over Tennessee Pass. I have used both liquid rosin and paste Miniatronic flux with good results on the Athearn steel parts. I use a steel brush disk on a Dremel to clean the steel before soldering. I tend to use soft stranded wire heavier than the 28-30 ga decoder wire so the truck flexing does not break the wire at the joint ...
Western Railroad Discussion > GP-30 Horn - Trainorders.com
Horns were typically specified by the railroad ordering the locomotive. Being as GP30's have been in service pushing 40+ years, it is very likely that they have been swapped out numerous times for different horns and most likely do not carry their original horn. If you provide either a locomotive picture or a specific railroad and engine number, there are …
Model Railroading > USA Trains GP-30 - Trainorders.com
