2021年6月15日 · A "grift" is a petty or small-scale scam. In American English a "grifter" is a petty scammer or con-man. The sort of person who might come to a small town, run a few scams (selling snake oil, religious scams, etc) and then move on to the next town to do it again.

I'd almost consider it interchangeable with "con" but I think just based on the context of how it's typically used, that a grift (or a "grifter") is even scummier than that.
