It incorporates intersecting blue and green lines to create a Nordic cross, with the center of the cross shifted toward the hoist. Within this central point of intersection lies a blue-gray, 8-point star formed by four chevron shapes.

Which is to some extent what Minnesota had with the North Star Flag. While it is somewhat boring in its design and could absolutely be better (many of the submissions were better but not necessarily any of the final six), it became the most common flag representing the movement to adopt a new state flag for Minnesota quite naturally.
Minnesota flag redesign tweak with meaningful symbolism
Given that the state seal was modified to include the Dakota phrase that gave Minnesota its name “Mni Sóta Makoce” which translates as “Land where the water reflects the sky”, it would be cool to carry that symbolism to the flag - where the bar representing the water is the mirror of the bar representing the sky.

Minnesota’s SOB flag is more like a corporate logo and has no creative licence. New Mexico and Texas, which were rated the best US state flags by the North American Vexillological Association in that order have meaningful symbolism and are creative and don’t look like advertisements and aren’t convoluted like most US state flags.
